More than a house, a project with soul.

Casa da Lavandeira, with over three hundred years of history, was acquired by Celestino Augusto Portela on 28 May 1921 - a family legacy that continues to this day.

One hundred years later, on 28 May 2021, the founder's grandson acquired the entire property, continuing this story and starting a new chapter. Today, the house has been transformed into a haven where art, design and tranquillity coexist in harmony.

In honour of Celestino Martins Portela - father and mentor - whose life was marked by a deep passion for gastronomy, wine, writing, painting and sculpture, the Zen & Art concept was born.

A space where every detail reflects this cultural heritage and artistic sensibility.

Five of the nine rooms were designed by leading figures in their respective fields, each conceived to convey the intimacy, personal taste and identity of its creator.

More than just places to stay, these are spaces with a character all of their own, offering a unique and sophisticated experience.
